The Geelong Heritage Centre is Victoria’s largest regional archive. We hold Geelong and district public records in accordance with Public Record Office Victoria guidelines, as well as extensive records produced by local private businesses, organisations, clubs, churches and individuals from 1838 to the present. The following broad categories of records can be accessed by the public:

  • Municipal records of 17 past and present councils from 1849 to 1993
  • Extensive reference library widely utilised for local and family history research
  • Genealogical records on CDROM, microform and in the archives
  • Geelong Advertiser newspaper on microfilm with comprehensive indexes to BDM notices and early articles
  • Photographs, maps, plans, drawings, sale notices and more
